Rebecca and Aled’s winter wedding at the King Arthur Hotel
Last year I photographed Rebecca’s sister’s wedding so It was wonderful when Rebecca and Aled asked me to shoot theirs too.
Getting ready at home and the Jesus Peiro wedding dress
Rebecca got ready at her parent’s home with her family and soon-to-be sister-in-law. It was a very relaxed morning, they’d pretty much done all this a year before so they knew what they were doing and everyone was calm. Rebecca’s dress was amazing, a stunning, elegant design by Jesus Peiro. While she was getting ready I caught one of my favourite shots of the year, Rebecca was laughing at something and from where I was standing I could see her in the bedroom mirror surrounded by photos with her sister.

The church ceremony
The wedding ceremony was held at the 21st Century Church in Llanelli where Aled is a kids Pastor. The room was filled with fairy lights and music and there was such a joyful buzz as everyone really got into the signing and celebrations.
After the ceremony, Rebecca, Aled, and their families went to Stradey Castle where we took the formal family photographs and then stole away a little time for just the two of them to have a moment together before heading to the King Arthur near Swansea.

The party
Aled caught my attention at his sister-in-law’s wedding the year before, also at the King Arthur Hotel. He is not a shy dancer, in fact, he excels and brings everyone around him along for the ride. So from the moment they booked me I had been looking forward to the party.

The King Arthur’s outdoor fairy lights
This amazing Swansea wedding venue had installed new outdoor lighting earlier in the year and Rebecca and Aled’s winter wedding was my first chance to really experiment with it. The festoon lights above the driveway are great for nighttime shots and especially sparklers. The willow tree in the gardens is a lovely spot in the summer for photographs but for a winter wedding, it loses its leaves. Now all year round it’s a great little spot to shoot with its waterfall of fairy lights.
